90th Biennial General Meeting (BGM) – Day Two – Business Session

Roll Call of General Meeting Delegates and Declaration of full Quorum

The Associate General Secretary of the Myanmar Council of Churches (MCC) presented the list of attending delegates. Out of the 13 member churches, all 13 were in attendance.

Of the 129 eligible voters, a total of 112 attended, including both in-person and visual (online) participants. Among the 14 national cooperating bodies, all 14 were present. Of the 49 Regional councils of churches, 12 were in attendance. Additionally, 10 out of 14 expanded members attended, along with 10 observers.

As all chairpersons from the various departments of the MCC were present, the President officially declared the 90th General Assembly to be in session.

Business Session

The first part of the business session was chaired by Archbishop Stephen Than Myint Oo (President of the MCC). The proceedings included:

1. Roll call of the General Assembly delegates.
2. Acceptance of proxies and observers.
3. Acceptance of the 14 expanded members of the General Assembly (eligible voters).
4. Adoption of the session agenda.
5. Opening remarks by the President of the MCC.
6. A Tribute session to honor and remember those who have passed away, followed by a prayer led by Rev. Dr. Zaw Win.

The first part of the session then concluded for a lunch break.

The second part of the business session was presided over by Bishop Dr. Myat San (Vice President of the MCC). The session continued with:

7. Reading and approval of the minutes from the 89th General Assembly.

8. Discussion of matters arising from those minutes.

9. Presentation of the General Secretary’s report.

10. Recommendations submitted by the Central Committee.

11. Report from the Public Relations Committee.

12. Report from the New Member Scrutiny Committee.

Following collective discussions, the assembly members formally moved and seconded the proposals, and all decisions were unanimously approved by a show of right hands. The one-day business session successfully concluded after Archbishop David Nyi Nyi Naing, who participated online, offered a closing prayer and benediction.
