MCC Conducts Intensive Ecumenical Course at Lisu Theological Seminary of Myanmar

Pyin Oo Lwin — From October 5 to 9, 2026, Rev. Dr. Simon Vanlalchhuanga, Executive Secretary for the Mission and Ecumenism Department at the Myanmar Council of Churches (MCC), conducted an intensive course on ecumenism for 25 final-year Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) students at the Lisu Theological Seminary of Myanmar (LITSOM) in Pyin Oo Lwin.

As part of the curriculum’s practical learning experience, an Ecumenical Study Visit was organized under the theme “Learning from Different Christian Traditions.” The students visited All Saints Church (Anglican) and the Methodist Church (Upper Myanmar) in Pyin Oo Lwin. This immersive exposure provided invaluable hands-on learning, greatly enhancing their understanding and appreciation of Christian unity in action.

This timely and impactful program is designed to equip students with the theological grounding and practical perspective needed to become future ecumenical leaders. It aims to empower them to champion Christian unity and foster cooperation as they step into ministry in their respective communities.

The Myanmar Council of Churches expresses its deep appreciation to Dr. Hsi Yah Dah, Principal of LITSOM, as well as the faculty and staff, for their gracious hospitality and collaboration in ensuring the successful delivery of this vital course.
